Introduction Cooling Engineer in the EN Department (EN), Cooling and Ventilation Group (CV), Detector cooling section. You will join: The Engineering Department (EN) that provides engineering competencies, infrastructure systems and technical coordination for the world's largest particle accelerator complex and its experimental facilities. The Cooling and Ventilation Group (CV), responsible for designing, constructing, maintaining, and operating cooling, ventilation and air conditioning systems and large scale fluid distribution systems for the whole Laboratory, particularly in the underground areas of the accelerators and experiments. The Project Section (PJ) within the CV Group, in charge of the design, tendering and work phases of CV installations as well as feasibility studies for new plants - the size of these plants can range from small systems up to large-scale structures of several MW. Functions As a Cooling Engineer in the Project Section, you will be in charge of the design, installation and commissioning of existing detector cooling systems as well as of the future ones. You will: Lead and perform future projects of detector cooling systems, defining technical solutions and resources, work planning and follow up the construction works until successful commissioning. Monitor installations, analyse performance and optimize working parameters in support of the operation of the plants. Contribute to define and technically validate the maintenance and operation plan following the operation schedule of the Experiments and the analysis of the data and information pertaining to maintenance (via CMM software and by inspections on site). Ensure regular liaison with Experiments' users for all matters related to the cooling systems. Periodically report on activities and project advancement, schedules, costs or other issues. Technically coordinate contractors' maintenance and installation work in compliance with contractual clauses and technical standards. Write up technical reports and notes. Ensure that the technical documentation is kept up-to-date and compliant with the quality standards. Ensure the respect of safety rules for all interventions. Qualification required Master's degree in the field of Mechanical engineering, preferably with a specialisation in Industrial refrigeration installations, or equivalent. Experience and competencies The experience required for this post is: Proven experience in design of cooling systems. Good experience in maintenance, operation and installation work of cooling plants. Refrigeration cycles and refrigerating machines. Low voltage network and switchboards. Cooling process and regulation. Knowledge of the following would be definite assets. Experience in the use of CMMS tools. PLC programming. The technical competencies required for this post are: Design of detector cooling systems. Organisation, planning and control: coordination of activities involving different technical fields (electricity, civil engineering, heavy handling etc.). Project management. Maintenance & operation of water cooling plants: distribution network, compressed air production and distribution plants. Installation of water cooling plants: distribution networks, compressed air production and distribution plants. Knowledge of LV network and switchboards. Knowledge of control system and process automation.
