The Asian Legal Resource Centre (ALRC) is a regional non-government organisation registered and based in Hong Kong operating with a pan-Asian remit, working on criminal justice institution reforms and human rights in Asia; The ALRC enjoys a General Consultative Status with the ECOSOC of the United Nations; To run ALRC's operations from its new representative office to be established in Geneva, Switzerland, the ALRC wishes to receive applications from candidates with the following qualifications: Experience: At least five years' work experience about human rights issues in Asia, particularly on South and South Asian countries, and on substantive issues related to criminal justice institution reforms At least five years' work experience on the working methodologies of the UN and EU, with high level of proficiency in international human rights law An LL.M Degree in International Human Rights Law from a recognised university A Doctoral Degree in Law, with licence to practice, and court experience in any of the developing countries A proven track record of published research articles on human rights law in reputed law journals, and of representing victims of human rights violations in national and international courts/tribunals/human rights treaty body mechanisms Work experience in any of the South or South East Asian countries, having stationed in the country Native level proficiency in written and oral English and at least one other UN official language Willingness to travel frequently between Europe and Asia in short notice Proven ability of completing assignments and multitasking in tight deadlines Application process: Canditates should apply in English by sending in their latest CV, and a motivation letter in not more than 2 pages (1500 words) to Bijo Francis, Executive Director bjio.francis (at) ahrc.asia.
